Bramble Weaver progress shots pt. 2

Where we left off, the painting was at about the halfway mark and I was deep in hate it.


It's the brambles, I thought. If I start to define them and work away from that awful color the underpainting is in, maybe the painting will suck less!



 

Nnnnno. Still sucks. In a bit of desperation, I started working on the clouds a bit. And then...



Eureka! It was the middleground that was screwing up my entire sense of the painting. From here on, it was pretty easy sailing.




This is where it is, now (though not so much with the yellow-green tint):


I still have some work to do, but it's something like 95% done at this point. It'll be done by the end of the week!
